Unidad Nacional de Hispanos Aliados (UNISAL) is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 in the United States in response to the devastating tragedy of the earthquake that occurred in El Salvador that same year. After this experience and the devastating consequences that followed, UNISAL saw a need and began to help those who had suffered in this catastrophe.

Since then, UNISAL has broadened its focus and expanded its work over the years to address the needs of the most vulnerable communities. UNISAL is dedicated to guiding, assisting, and supporting vulnerable Latin American families in the United States and disadvantaged communities in El Salvador who face significant challenges in their search for a better future.

For more than 20 years, more than 500,000 people have been supported through educational, social, cultural, and humanitarian aid programs. In this way, UNISAL contributes to building a better future for families and their communities in the United States and El Salvador.

UNISAL opens new offices in San Salvador and Dallas, TX.

2021

UNISAL opens a new office in Boston, MA.

 2019

UNISAL together with Immigrant Allies from NC, supported the vote in favor of the HR6 law in Washington D.C.​

2016

UNISAL achieves the release of several young people detained for deportation.

 2015

Showers of gifts in Charlotte.

UNISAL advocates for automatic voter registration.

2014

Wheelchair campaign at UNISAL.

Support for the program for Central American refugee minors (CAM).

 2013

Mass registration for TPS at UNISAL.

2012

UNISAL helps TPS applicants to obtain permanent residency.

 2010

UNISAL continues to send aid shipments to El Salvador.

2009

UNISAL organizes a caravan to Washington to support immigration reform.

Help El Salvador for Hurricane Ida.

 2005

Salvadorans flock to UNISAL for the renewal of TPS.

Campaign with several Central American ambassadors for CAFTA.

2004

About 70 residents applied for citizenship through UNISAL.

 2003

UNISAL leads a project to rebuild homes in El Salvador.

2002

UNISAL participates in the "A Million Voices for Legalization" to request amnesty for undocumented immigrants.

First honorary consulate.

Nearly two million Salvadorans (1,923,303) live in poverty, representing 30% of the population in precarious material conditions. Furthermore, according to United Nations data, one million Salvadorans (15.8% of the population) are severely food insecure.
